Tony Ballard Hosted Red Carpet Book Launch in NYC!
While serving his final few years of a 25 year prison sentence, Tony Ballard who is The Gift of Chess Director of Prison Outreach, would look out the window of his facility, and in the distance could see the New York Life building in downtown Wichita, Kansas. We dreamed of the day he could travel to NYC as a free man and share his story of transformation and overcoming. His story of hope.
This past weekend, dreams came true. In the heart of Times Square, we laid out the red carpet for Tony as we hosted his NYC book launch of his new published memoir Time Alone, From Isolation to Transformation. It was a night we will never forget and a true example of dreaming big, working together, faith, love, second chances, and the power of the human spirit against all odds. Many people showed up in support and were deeply moved by Tony’s story of hope. In his darkest days of spending 23 hours a day in the despair of solitary confinement, which often would span weeks & months, he used chess to free his mind of the unthinkable solitude that would drive the best men into insanity.
With the tools learned over the chess board, a deep connection to faith and in the quiet of his own mind, Tony found purpose in transforming his life, and now is on a journey to share that same message of hope, with anywho who dares greatly to listen.
