The Gift of Chess Ambassador to Nepal, Monalisha Khamboo Visits NYC Summer Training Camps.
This past week we had the honor of welcoming special guest WCM Monalisha Khamboo to our Summer Training Camps.
Monalisha shared her chess journey from first leaning chess as a young girl in Nepal to becoming a chess champion who now travels the world spreading chess. Molalisha answered questions, shared gifts, and even played a few campers in friendly games of blitz.
@monalishakhamboo is a Nepali chess player, promoter, administrator, and gender advocate. She is the first Women’s Chess Champion of Nepal and has achieved the highest FIDE rating among Nepali women. She holds the title of Women Candidate Master, which was conferred by the World Chess Federation in 2015, and is the first female International Arbiter from Nepal. Over her career, she has secured the National Women’s Chess Championship of Nepal multiple times and has represented her country in major international chess events, including the Asian Games, Asian Indoor Games, and the World Chess Olympiad.
Recently Monalisha has been appointed @thegiftofchess Ambassador to Nepal, where she is leading the distribution of 1,000 chess sets across schools, prisons and refugee communities.
